COVIN TECHNICAL PAGE

Welcome to the Technical section, here you will find as much Technical information as I can find on all related subjects of the Covin 911 Turbo Replica.

I have added a contents section displaying the article subject and also who supplied the article to me so if you want this section to improve and grow then it's up to you to inform me of any hints, tips, or methods you have used. Without your input no one will ever know about it. So share your knowledge and findings.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

 OVERALL MEASUREMENTS LENGTH 13'9" WIDTH 6'0" HEIGHT 4'2" WHEELBASE 7'3" TRACK5'0"

KERBSIDE-WEIGHT

depending on engine etc

1500 to 1725 lbs
TYRE PRESSURES VARIABLE TO WEIGHT FRONT  22psi REAR  28psi
covin CHASSIs Designed for strength and safety using a combination of backbone and space-frame design with the addition of a safety perimeter rail. jig built. all mounting holes are drilled and tapped.
body construction Main body and panels of GRP. All panels are double skinned with steel reinforced doors and body. major panels bolt on for easy replacement.
engine choice

The list of engines to use is vast, but popular choices are... VW, ALFA & Porsche air cooled. FORD CVH, VW GOLF & VAUXHALL Water cooled.

The lighter the engine the better so keep this in mind.

vw transaxle The VW Transaxle will cope with around 150 BHP without problem but DO NOT use drag start pull aways as this will turn it to scrap metal. Once vehicle is moving you can then use the power available reliably.
suspension For Type 3 based Covins I would recommend AVO Pro Race fully adjustable coil over shocks all round.
steering Standard Type 3 steering box. If Porsche steering wheel is to be used then MK1 Golf column can be modified to fit.
