PART 9   (2003)

MY COVIN (2003)

another year and a massive new project

2003 has been a very eventful and stressful year but unfortunately not a great deal has been done to my Covin due to a 6 month long battle with solicitors and the land registry to purchase a new house. When I say house I use the word loosely as "SEMI DERELICT SHOP" would be a much more accurate description. I still managed to attend all the shows throughout the year but had to travel home from Donington on the Sunday to start moving  house that very same day.

April 2003

During the summer of 2002 I Couldn't resist a pair of 911 Turbo black leather electric seats that came up for sale and decided to start searching for the necessary parts to go with them, like the complete interior....

Trust me here, there's a pair of them....
Full Porsche 911 Turbo interior fitted, the electric seats are so much better than the old Covin ones and really keep you in place on those country roads. Porsche seats fitted to the rear via home made mounting plates to allow for the Covins different shape in the rear to accept the Porsche seat brackets

4th & 5th May 2003 Stoneleigh show

Another great turnout by club members and their Covin's

You have to take your hat off to Paul Saxon bringing his Covin to the show on a trailer.....

16th & 17th August 2003 Harrogate show

Harrogate show was a vast improvement from previous years with new organisers John and Suzy Cooke of European Promotions stepping in and really making the show one of the best events of the year. As the show is now in August we decided a camping weekend was on the card. It all worked out well and a great time was had by all.

Mark Turner, Darren Parker & Andy Devlin Alan Jones, Mark Turner, Darren Parker & Steve Harrison

13th & 14th September 2003 Donington show

We were only able to to be at Donington for the first day and the evening our for a meal as Sunday day 2 of the show we were moving house so had to dash back the 200 miles home on Sunday morning to start the house moving process.

14th & 15th September 2003 Moving House &  DIY REQUIRED

Here's a few of pictures showing the rather large project I've got on my hands for the next few years ? ? .... The pictures don't do it justice as it's far worse than it looks...

For those who might wish to know more please read on........ Otherwise click here for MY COVIN PART 10

Your Technical Advisor will now also be known as BOB THE BUILDER

Looks nice eh ? What do you mean it looks a mess ? It's far worse than that I can assure you. We weren't sure whether to keep these nice units or the 50 years of grot stuck to them... BURN IT ALL . .
Trust me it's going to be a room someday, good place to store my lathe and air compressor though. The shop had slightly rotten floor and joists, in fact the whole lot was rotten and needed changing.

That's me, Bob the builder.

Like my Covin build I decided to do everything myself and boy it's hard work....

The kitchen ... This picture was actually taken when we first viewed the house...hmmm
View from the back garden showing the garage which is large and also has a pit and drive through rear door. I'll have to keep you guessing what I'm building here at the left rear/side of the house...
I've been rather busy 2003 to 2004 Can you tell ?

Can you spot the difference ? I hope so...

There's my wife Claire's Covin sitting where I have planning permission to build a 30 foot long garage.... Oh yes, I have a cunning plan.

New walls, render, windows, facia, electric roller garage door and a nice lick of paint and there you have it. A new look to the front.
View of the revamped garden with pond in the top right corner. And no I didn't get Ground Force in..... Carried out a lot of work in the kitchen
Remember that shop? This is how it looks now. The old shop becomes a Pool room with extra seating, great for all the party's we have. Only a few little plastering jobs left to finish round the window area.

THE LABORATORY.... Come on now... What did you think I was building at the side of the house ?

There's still loads to do on the house but at least the downstairs level, kitchen, utility, pool room, dinning room and lounge are all done to a point and ok for now so It's time to start on the upstairs. Only another 14 months and it should all be finished. . . . . .

Then again I could just do some work on the Covin's...hmmm.. Sounds like a good plan to me and it's about time I did.
