Covin Owner James Latcham
James has owned his Covin for a few
years now and I travelled down to Luton with him to view it and give it the once
over. It was fully built, complete with C2/C4 body kit, Porsche interior
and it was clear to see that someone had put together a very good quality build
that had unfortunately fallen into the wrong hands and you all know what that means.... Yep
the brain dead had been at it.
Luckily James made the decision to
buy the Covin before any further damage was caused.
We knew the Covin required some work,
with blown up engine, electrics not right, water leaks, damaged door skin and a
host of other small problems all caused by idiots not having a clue,
It's so annoying when you see this kind of thing but both myself and James could
see past all this and as he lives only 25
miles from me we had a cunning plan.....
In order to get his Covin on the road
and get to ALL the shows through the year he acquired an old 1200cc VW
air-cooled engine and simply used it like this for 2 years travelling some 400
miles round trip to each show to support the club with a 1200cc sewing machine
engine singing away in the back, following close behind me in my Covin so
he could stay in my slipstream and keep his speed up. You have to admire his dedication to get to
the shows.
The opportunity came up to get Andy
Devlins old VW 1600 engine and we fitted that in 2004.
During all this time he slowly collected
a whole host of bits together ready for the day when he could finally
say... "RIGHT IT'S TIME FOR IT TO BE DONE"....
That time is only a couple of weeks
away because February 2005 his Covin is going to spend many weeks in my garage
where I'm going to do some Gandalf impressions and try to work some magic.
As you can see in the pictures It's a
great looking Covin that deserves some time and money spending on it to make it
look it's best.

window seals, complete interior change including carpets and soundproofing
plus a few other little jobs. |

Cutting out door to fit new Porsche
handles |

Here we had to re-bond the outer door skin
to the door as it was split away down one edge. The simple timber props
ensured the door skin remained in the correct position while the bonding was
curing. The door is now perfect. |

new 911 door handles fitted |

| Here's the final results of all that work...
Looking good. |
