:smt006 hi all, just firstly like to thank all the members that came to stafford show and made them selves know, many thanks of course to danni and toni and john . also maisey and her friend. also daryl (v8covin) and paul bailey who introduced him self, and gary and carrol who poped in out the blue, in shock i think to see two covins at a antique fair :lmao (long storey) :lmao we had lots of interest from many people and genuine porsche owners who were genuinely amazed to find that our cars are indeed kit cars. :smt012 :smt003 :smt003 me loving that man :smt004
any way on to the pics

we arrived the friday evening, and after the trip from hell to get there what is normaly a 1 1/2 hour trip turned into a 5 hour life or death encounter, (long story for much much later) just ask how long it took darren and claire to get to vanfest, that will make me feel a lot better :smt016 :smt016 sorry bond :lmao :lmao
Image
the organiser showed his full tallent as usual at this event, no tallent no organisation, not a clue, not immpressed at all, nothing marked out to know were to go, nobody around to help or to give use a clue , we pitched our tent on the staffordshire boarders it seemed like, and traveled to the show area, to park up a any part of the field we could find, crap. but the sun came out the people turned up fantastic :smt012 :lmao

the halls had a few traders and manufactures in them wasnt massive but it was the first one

this was at stoneleigh this year and just the bare shell the year before, me n danny realy like the sound of this one, mmmmmmmmmm

it was a good show , small and unorganised chaos
i think that den tanner the organiser needs to think a bit more on how these events should be run not how the could be run, on the first night friday night, after a long wet dreadful trip there, the organiser apparently neglected to tell us that the young farmers were having a band and a bash on at the side of the camping area where the toilets are this went on till the early hours followed by drunken maniacs beeping horns and screatching wheels at 2 in the morning as they left they smashed up the toilets that were for our use, a great niight to start with i think you will agree, the saturday night we had a good night with the members of the locust club and enjoyed the evening chatting and drinking, with dave (noddy and digga and jonathan, all three have joined us many times at other shows, and are really good company too. the sunday seemed a good day except the antique fair car parking seem to take over the whole show, not ideal, and at the end of the day the over sixties caravaning club were waiting for us to go as they were promised the site where we were on the sunday, midday sunday not late afternoon sunday when people would be leaving, as we sat there were vans being driven all round us, and parking up, we eventually had to go as we were in the way,
i think if this muppet den tanner is going to put a kit car show on for the friday evening to the sunday, why has he allowed the young farmers to take over the friday night, the antique fair to take over the sunday, and the caravaners to push us off on the sunday afternoon, it would have worked ok if the kit car show wasnt on, it seems we were an infill idea, that didnt work, they didnt charge you to come in to the show ground, but charged you to enter the hall, but to rub salt into the wound, the man him self (aparently) den tanner came round to us at 10 o clock at night on the saturday for £15 camping fee, but he didnt go to every one, seems just to the easiest ones for him, it seems every kit car show we go to we are disolusioned into what we expect to what we get, however the classic shows are the opposite, a fantastic event and organised and very cheap too, why o why can,t the muppets running these kit car events learn somthing from the guys running the classic shows, its cant be that hard now can it,
ok rant over, :smt012

Is this the same Den Tanner who used to own Pilgrim cars that had the very public falling out with a certain Mr Filby in the mags?

I think I met him once back in the nineties when I visited his little factory unit down that London and test drove a Sumo. Made me realise that anyone selling a Cobra replica and states "practical everyday car" is talking utter sh1t.

Covins on the other hand can make this claim - you just have to get used them!

I agree with my hubbies comments he made about the show, don't normally post but feel need to show the female perspective from this also, love the picture for me Darren wish I had that body in reality :smt003

1) We were disappointed that the organiser did not collect monies on the gate, we were not disputing paying as you can't run a show on thin air, but who to charge and what to charge are another debate that I am sure you guys have all aired before. I felt it was totally out of order to come around at 10pm at night, give some story and then ask for payment. This did not give people the option of considering whether to camp or not and gave the impression upon entry that it was free therefore some may not then have had the funds to pay for this (this view was shared by other clubs also). To then not collect monies from all campers was out of order and unfair. :smt018 :smt018

2) The organisation of the event when we arrived at the venue was diabolical. There were not site layouts, no staff about and it was a free for all on pitches. One of the disappointments was that you were not allowed to camp on your pitch (something for all loving car owners puts people off).

3) We were informed on the saturday night after trying to ascertain for sometime at the start of the day where the 'open showing area for no club stands' was that we did indeed have a covin club stand (this had been used all day as a car park for the show and antiques fair). The organiser also asked us 'where were our five cars' that he had reserved. We did politely respond, but as you can imagine what other thoughts were in the back of our minds I will leave that to your imagination. :smt013 :smt013

4) The halls were 'a typical set up' of other smaller shows but the distinct lack of traders was a let down and disappointment, you are not going to get the public in and paying £10 for a 5 minute walk around they just won't do it

5) Mark is right about the classic shows whilst traders are still orientated to the male side instead of catering for all needs (as the vw shows tend to) they get the people through the door and are well organised.

Heres to great company and laughs over the weekend this really made it for us. :smt012 :smt012 The show itself holds question marks and certainly needs improvements made to ensure this is not one of its last.

Well that is my show summary thats all folks marks other half shazzi :smt002 :smt002

First off all great set of pics mark .That mustang kit was really something...and a sierra underneath !! The engine note was the perfect v8 rumble followed by some revs and snarling...oh yes i wants one..Dear santa... :lmao
As for the organizer I think some feedback needs to be sent to this muppet or some naming and shaming on various forums.I bet he pocketed a healthy sum for not doing much :smt009 The over sixtys caravan club was funny though ,although not as funny as john getting stopped for speeding by an unmarked car :lmao :smt018 He only got a verbal warning so was lucky.
All in all had good day with mark and shazzi.A hello to paul bailey too who has been ill the last year but in recovery mode now also helo to gary dare and his partner who would have brought his covin knowing there was a show on.Oh yes mark i think you get more knuckle tappers at kit shows to see if car is grp . :smt003

I'm not defending the organisation of the show but my mate had a stand inside the main hall and he paid a fraction of the usual cost.Seems to me the show was done on a small budget hence it appeared to be badly organised.
I see they have already booked it for next year so hopefull it will be bigger and better :smt012

:smt012 yeh i think it was a small budget for the kit car show, as there were the funds from the antique fair and the young farmers bash and the caravan club meet, think more priority was put on them than us. you could tell with the guys on the antique fair who were directing people, they were clued up, unlike our show, who were non exhistant :smt009 :smt009 shame first impressions last, i wont forget this one, if you compare it to peterborough, it was the first show too, but they had people at the gate charging you accordingly, you had marked out areas for your clubs, and camping fields marked out, and the weather was shite, but still a good doo, stafford had the better weather but shite organisation, i would rather have the peterborough show anyday . :smt012
there you go again more rant :lmao :smt012
