Hi guys, I'm a new driver, well I haven't even passed yet, I'm 17. For years my favourite car has been the 911 turbo, although I've no hope of insuring one of those, but then I came across these, and the insurance is cheaper than a 1.0 polo! So I'll be sticking around here and asking a lot of questions I'm sure. Firstly, I really like the 965, would I just need to change the bumpers to make mine look like one from the outside? Also, is it possible to fit a 2.5 early Boxster engine? Ideally I'm looking for a tax exempt model with most of the work done, preferably registered as a beetle. I'll appreciate any replies hugely.

Many thanks,

Lucas.

Hello Mark,

At the minute I'm still saving towards one, I should have a budget of around 4-5 k as I'd like one with all the mechanics done, I have a saved search on eBay and I check hear regularly.

Many thanks

Welcome aboard Lucas.
I suggest you stick with a Covin with the Aircooled VW engine to keep things simple.
Have you enquired about insurance ? A lot of kitcar insurance companies won't insure under 21's. I'm sure there's some that will, but they'll charge you for it.

Thank you.

That is what I was thinking of, although I would like it to sound somewhat like a Porsche and be fairly quick, admittedly I don't know much about the mechanics of a car so you're right in saying I should stick with a VW engine. I got a quote of £1600 a year fully comp on my own insurance, with Adrian Flux, which I thought was very reasonable.

That's actually the cheapest quote I've ever got! :smt005 Wow £150, that's ridiculously cheap! I will be definitely at the next show, I should even be able to drive up there in my own by then. :smt012
