Have you thought of getting yourself a small sand blasting gun for those rusty pitted areas ?
Something like this maybe
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... tblast-gun

The 1 I have recycles the grit back into a bag to save waste and mess. It's the only way to stop the dreaded iron oxide for good :smt012

I've got a sand blaster but my old compressor just doesn't have the power to run it with enough constant pressure for it to be effective :smt005
I've just bought another compressor which will be better for sand blasting but it's to late to help with the T3 resto :lmao
Cheers for the advice though.

Thanks Money Penny :smt003 I've just come in from a 16 hour shift in the garage :smt009 T3 has gone and the 66 Bug is now here so I'll get some pictures posted in a new thread tomorrow :smt012

Next project is 66 Bug and the Porsche 356 resto will start in a few weeks time. Then a 3rd project arrives sometime in June so I think I'm going to be rather busy for a while :smt004

Cheers Danny, I've a feeling he's very pleased with the end result, although I don't think he knows just how much work went into it. He's only 19 so probably won't quite grasp how much effort goes into something like this :smt003

Yep, a REAL 356 Doros. I've got to rebuild it's gearbox first and once that's done the car will be coming here. Should be in a few weeks time all being well :smt012

Just had this rather nice comment from the Owner of this Type 3 on DurhamDubbers Forum :smt003

Looks loads better in the flesh and just starting to reasemble it now. Darren has done a great job, show winning

Knowing he's very happy with the end result makes all the hard work I put into this car worthwhile :smt012

By the way, the next project (1960 Porsche 356 Restoration) should be here in mid April :smt004
