Nice one Ian. That's one that now needs to be added to the Coupe section :smt012
Any chance of some updated pictures and some further details on the Covin m8 ?

yea no probs i bought it on ebay a few months ago from newcastle and drove it home to hayes middlesex .It broke down the whole way home with a fuel problem . i now have it jacked up at home needs loads of work doing to it . i just cut the old floor out of it as that was a load of rubbish .To be honest with you i dont know how it passed its last MOT i think it was a bent one,
Iam going to put a vauxhall lump in it cos me and my mate race them so we can get them quite fast ..Going to put the c2/c4 kit on it and new interior in it ,Just bought cup 3 wheels for it they look the part .
I will try and sort some pics out for ya thanks Ian :smt006

Was this one bought from a guy called Paul in Cramlington by any chance ? Think it had a VW Type 1 engine fitted, home made trim and a recent respray :smt017

yea it was .He told me about this web page and that you was the one to talk to if i had probs with anything . i was thinking of sticking the engine on ebay but dont know how much its worth he said it cost him loads what do you think it has twin carbs on each side of it and is a 1641 i dont know anything about these engines but the money would come in handy to help build the car . Not going to sell it for a month cos once the floor is done i want to sort it out for the mot . Thanks Ian :smt001
ps did you see the state of the inside of this car it was poor had to go :smt009

:smt003 Yep, I remember this Covin, I sorted out the gears for him and got the engine running. It didn't have any interior when I last saw it as he was making some. I gather it didn't turn out to well eh ?

The old VW engine would be worth a few quid if it can be heard running etc. A 1641 VW engine should make between £300 and £500 on eBay depending on condition etc.

Fitting the Vauxhaul engine will cost a few quid mind as you'll need Gearbox adaptorplate kit, new Coilover shocks, Porsche 944 Brake upgrade, Servo and approx 50kg of weight adding to the front end to stop it floating at any speed over 60 mph... Then you'll have to get it to handle well.... It aint easy m8, trust me :smt012
